SUNTECH OF CONNECTICUT, INC. was selected as the glass and custom metal contractor for this landmark museum facility designed by Tadao Ando and Gensler Associates. The extremely large windows were fabricated by Visionwall, Inc in Alberta, CA, providing the highest possible performance available from an aluminum curtain wall. The floor to ceiling glass doors for the project are 12’0” high and were provided by Ellison Bronze and Blumcraft, custom built to the exacting standards of the design team.

The exterior features custom designed and fabricated architectural aluminum beams specifically detailed to replicate heavy steel profiles yet maintaining the demanding thermal requirements while still providing the sharp corners and intersections of materials that carry throughout the project. An unusual element in the project are ½” clear tempered upward acting vertical doors that disappear into the ceiling when opened and carefully rest on the counters when closed.
